Man Utd’s £59.7M Record Breaker Planning For Future Argentina Return

Manchester United’s record breaking signing Angel Di Maria has admitted that he wants to return to Rosario Central before his football career ends, as reported by the Daily Express.

Having moved to the Old Trafford club this summer for a British transfer record breaking fee of £59.7 million, it will come as something of a blow to the club’s fans to hear that a key player is already thinking of a future away from Manchester.

Di Maria has a long association with Central, having joined them at the age of four, but he made only 35 appearances for them before moving to Benfica, who he signed for in 2007.

The 26-year-old has had a key impact since moving to the Red Devils, having scored two goals and provided two assists in only four games since making his move.

Man Utd are set to face Everton at the weekend, and have been boosted by the news that Phil Jones might be fit.

Van Gaal Criticises Record Breaking Signing’s Man Utd Display

Louis van Gaal has criticised the display of Angel Di Maria against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, despite the record breaking Manchester United signing having scored and played a role in three of the side’s goals, as reported by the Daily Star.

The 4-0 win against Harry Redknapp’s QPR on Sunday represented Man Utd’s first win of the season.

Prior to the international break, they had struggled to play with any sort of fluidity, even going as far as to lose horribly to MK Dons in the second round of the League Cup. A 4-0 loss there had symbolised the extent to which the club was struggling.

After a huge outlay in the last weeks of the transfer window, however, they played well against QPR, who looked defensively poor and had little going forward.

Despite his key role in the display, however, Van Gaal was not enamoured with Di Maria’s display, saying that he lost the ball too many times.

Van Gaal said: “When you have a part in three goals and make the first goal yourself, then he can’t have played bad.

“But he had a lot of unnecessary losses (of the ball) so we can do better, even Angel Di Maria.

“You can say it is impossible to do better when you prepare three goals and make one yourself.

“But I am a trainer and a coach and reading the game and there are two or three things we need to improve on as a team.”

QPR Boss Fears “Dangerous” Man Utd Forward Line

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has referred to Manchester United’s brand new forward line as dangerous, with the London club tasked with being the first side to face a side boosted by the shock deadline day arrival of Radamel Falcao, as reported by the Daily Express.

It is not just Falcao’s arrival that has served to improve Man Utd’s forward line, however, as the addition of Angel Di Maria earlier in the transfer window represented the capture of the most impressive player of last season’s Champions League final for a British record transfer fee. Di Maria cost £59.7 million to tempt away from Real Madrid.

Man Utd already have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie available to them, along with the likes of Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj. That combination did not impress last season, however, as Man Utd finished seventh. Van Gaal has improved in an attempt to get the club back into the Champions League, and Redknapp is worried about the side he now faces.

He said: “Well, it certainly sounds dangerous!

“It’s got the makings of a great forward line.

“It’ll be interesting to see how they gel together. Di Maria doesn’t sound too bad either.

“We’ve got to go up there and make sure we work hard. We’ve got to be prepared to give them a game on Sunday.”
