Liverpool Boss Has Plan To Deal With £60M Man Utd Target

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that his side have been preparing to deal with the threat posed by Real Madrid’s ultra talented star Cristiano Ronaldo, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Champions League winners will play the Reds at Anfield on Wednesday night, and despite Gareth Bale being out injured, the return of Ronaldo to English soil will pose a threat that Rodgers’s side will undoubtedly have to deal with.

Given their defensive woes against Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, there is little doubt that the Merseyside club’s back-line will have to improve ahead of tonight’s crunch clash.

However, Rodgers believes that it is equally important that his team offer a threat of their own to Los Blancos, rather than simply looking to stifle Ronaldo throughout the match.

“He’s arguably the best player in the world at the moment,” he added.

“We have to make a plan for our team first to ensure we cause Real Madrid problems.

“Then, of course, you have to prepare for the quality players they have, but that will be as a team and that is something we’ll focus on going into the game.”

Liverpool have won one of their games in the Champions League and lost one, with the defeat against Basle last time around suggesting improvements are necessary.

Manchester United have reportedly targeted Ronaldo for the last few weeks, and are said to have earmarked a £60 million fee to bring him in as early as January, although a move now looks unlikely to happen.

Liverpool Boss Backs £16M Ace To Find His Shooting Boots In Real Clash

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes Mario Balotelli will find his goalscoring touch in tonight’s huge clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League, as reported by the Daily Star.

Balotelli has been something of a disappointment since his arrival on Anfield, with the Italian international scoring only one goal for the club.

His purchase from AC Milan towards the end of the transfer window was heralded as astute from some quarters, but despite the reduced fee, Balotelli has failed to live up to his potential.

The poor performances reached a crescendo against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, with Balotelli spurning opportunity after opportunity, while simultaneously taking shots from range that he had little right to.

Despite his struggles in front of the net, Rodgers has offered his confidence to Balotelli, and believes he will play a key role against the Spanish giants tonight.

“He’s a good kid who is working hard,” Rodgers said.

“He’s focused and getting himself out on the training field, which is important, and he’s scored goals in big games.

“I’m sure he’ll go into the game tomorrow night, if selected, looking forward to getting off the mark again, and as long as he’s in there with the possibilities to score, I have every confidence he can score.”

Liverpool have won one and lost one in the Champions League thus far.

Liverpool Boss Speaks Of Respect For “Incredible” Everton Manager

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he holds a big admiration for former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes, as reported by the Daily Star.

Moyes has become something of a figure of fun to fans after his spell in charge of the Old Trafford club, which saw the Red Devils drop to seventh in the Premier League last season.

Regular disappointments were served up to fans of Man Utd last season, with a 3-0 loss against Liverpool at Old Trafford a particular low-light for Moyes’s side.

He saw his contract terminated before the end of the season, having failed to lead Man Utd to a European place.

However, prior to his time with Man Utd, Moyes had had an extended spell in charge of Everton, which impressed many.

10 years of relatively sustained success with the Toffees saw Moyes given the big job, but Rodgers respects him for his time at his Merseyside rivals.

He said: “There are many people and managers I have a big admiration for.

“I look at David Moyes and the incredible job he did at Everton although he didn’t win a trophy.

“People might look at me in the next number of years and if I win some trophies they might say that’s a success, but I believe my success was the 15 years before that, leading up to that, my success and my journey as a manager and working with young players.

“That’s what I deem as my success.”
