Forward Set To Leave Arsenal This Week – reports

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell could leave the Emirates Stadium this week, with La Liga side Villarreal joining Real Sociedad in battling for his signature, as reported by the Daily Star.

He would likely only join one of the two sides on a temporary basis, with the Gunners willing to see him depart on a loan spell until the end of the season.

The Costa Rica international is expected to agree to fresh terms with the north London club before any deal to loan him out is agreed with the two sides.

Former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes’ Real Sociedad were credited with an interest in him last week.

And Villarreal, otherwise known as the Yellow Submarine, entered the chase for him yesterday.

Campbell played in Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win against Hull City.

However, he has not played much first team football this season.

His agent is now expected in London this week to discuss a new deal with Arsenal and decide on where he will play his football until the end of the season.

Spanish Side Enquire About Availability Of Arsenal Forward – reports

Real Sociedad have made an enquiry about the availability of Arsenal forward Joel Campbell, according to Spanish outlet fichajes.net.

The Costa Rica international returned from the World Cup expecting to play far more football this season, having spent last season on loan with Olympiacos, but has struggled to make an impression at the Emirates Stadium.

He featured in the game against Hull City in the FA Cup on Sunday, which the Gunners won 2-0, but had to be withdrawn early after suffering from cramp.

Campbell has been identified by Sociedad manager David Moyes, formerly of Manchester United and Everton, as the sort of player he needs to bring in to boost his side during the January transfer window.

Moyes and Sociedad managed a famous result on Sunday as they beat Barcelona 1-0 at San Sebastian.

Part of any deal may be contingent on Arsenal securing Campbell to fresh terms, with his current deal set to expire in June 2016.

Arsenal Manager Praises Forward Options After 25-Year-Old Return

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised the striking options available to him in his squad after seeing Theo Walcott return from injury against Hull City last night, as reported by ArsenalFC.com.

The Gunners triumphed 2-0 in the third round clash, a repeat of last year’s final, when the north London side also won.

Per Mertesacker opened the scoring for Wenger’s side, who dominated the majority of the game.

Alexis Sanchez then wrapped up the game with a goal late on, and he was exceptional at leading the like.

Walcott returned to action for the first time since the third round last season, offering another player for Wenger to consider going forward.

Joel Campbell also played in the game, one of his first appearances for the Emirates Stadium side.

This, along with Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud, who played no part, means Wenger has options going forward.

He was effusive in his praise for the options up front.

“We have many options when you think of the players who still have not played tonight,” he told Arsenal Player.

“We have many solutions up front.

“You cannot expect much [from Walcott yet] but fitness-wise he was good. He had good chances, made some good runs. He has to get used to contact again and that will take a little bit of time. Overall it was a positive first game.

“It’s a very important period now. We’ve had many injuries until now and hopefully everybody will be back.”
