Man Utd Stalwart Keen To Keep Up Form Through Hard Work

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has spoken to ManUtd.com, telling the website that he is hopeful of the side keeping their excellent run going into the new year and climbing the table as a result.

The Red Devils have not lost since November 8 2014, a run of 11 matches without defeat, with 10 coming in the Premier League.

This has pushed Man Utd from mid table to third place in the English top flight, and as a result, they look set to qualify for the Champions League.

While both Chelsea and Manchester City are seemingly in a mini league for the title itself, Man Utd could still push for a title challenge, with the right form.

They are also through to the fourth round of the FA Cup, after beating Yeovil Town 2-0 away from home.

With the quest for Champions League football and silverware on the cards, Smalling is keen to carry on the hard work and achieve come the end of the season.

He said: “Going into the New Year on the back of a good run means that it’s a case of working even harder to climb the table and get as many points as we can.

“We need to do as much as possible on the pitch and, as an individual, do as much as we can in terms of recovery and extra work.”

The unidentified club, who, judging by the league table, are Sporting Gijon, have turned to an organisation called Yamvi Sports to look for new talent, and Richie O’Dare, their operations manager, has turned to the website to look for new talent.

Their demands are specific, looking for players with a European passport who play as playmakers.

While they are hoping to get a player like Barcelona’s Xavi or former Manchester United target Toni Kroos, it seems unlikely that they will be able to tempt a player of that calibre with an offer of €1,300 a month.

There also cannot be a transfer fee involved, and the talent has to be younger than 25 years old.

The club are desperate for the two new players, and need them to be able to join them in the next six days.

Spurs Defender Warns CL Rivals Like Man Utd: We Can Fight On Four Fronts

Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio has warned the White Hart Lane club’s Champions League rivals that they can continue to compete on four fronts this season, as reported by the Daily Star.

The north London side face a replay against Burnley in the FA Cup, having been pegged back after going ahead in the clash.

They now have a staggering fixture pile up, which means they face two games every week until the middle of March, except for one week.

Spurs are through to the semi-final of the Capital One Cup, facing off with League One side Sheffield United during that period of time.

Fazio’s side have another opportunity at silverware, having reached the final 32 of the Europa League, where they face Fiorentina.

They are also pushing for a Champions League place, hitting fifth in the Premier League, and face one of their major rivals for that, Manchester United, in the coming weeks.

Fazio believes they can juggle the four competitions, and said: “Can we win one or two cups? It’s possible, of course.

“We are in the semi-finals of the Capital One and we need to fight in all competitions.

“We are alive in the Europa League, too, and now we need to think about the next games in the Premier League and fight for our objectives, like qualifying for the Champions League next season.

“The squad is big enough. It’s good for our objectives. We are trying to fight in all competitions and that is good. It works for the team and we need to keep playing well as a unit.

“In the last eight or nine matches, we have played very well, we haven’t lost and this is good for our confidence.

“And we also beat Chelsea, one of the top teams in the world.”
