Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling is set to face contract talks with the Anfield club within the next two weeks, after several days of Sterling seemingly agitating for the club to offer him a new contract, as reported by the Metro.

This comes as a result of a clause in Sterling’s current contract, which means that the Merseyside team have to hold discussions over fresh terms with the player once he has made his 90th appearance for the historic side.

Sterling was instrumental during Liverpool’s 2-1 win against West Brom on Saturday, a game that arrested an alarming slump that had seen the Reds go without a win in the Premier League for the entire month of September.

That game was Sterling’s 87th for Brendan Rodgers’s side, and in an attempt to sort matters out before the contract calls for it, Ian Ayre has apparently contacted the player’s representatives in order to agree a new deal, which will take place in the next two weeks.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that the contract situation developing around Raheem Sterling is not a big problem for the Anfield club, despite the increasing press presence of the story, as reported by the Daily Star.

The manager has gone as far as to say that he is confident that the 19 year old will stay on Merseyside in the future.

Sterling has emerged as one of the top young talents in European football today after a staggering period of form since the turn of last year.

However, reports last week suggested that there were increasing issues on Sterling’s behalf over a lack of a new deal to reward him for his exceptional displays.

Rodgers has remained confident about the situation, however, and even suggested that he would not be doing Sterling any favours by handing him a significantly increased pay packet in the near future.

He has also said today that he believes that the situation will be resolved.

“Ian Ayre has spoken with his representatives and he is quite relaxed.
