Chelsea Eye Up £20m Move For Goalscoring Ace – reports

Roma’s intended January bid for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke could allow Chelsea to make a successful move for their long term target Mattia Destro.

The Italian club are very keen to bring Benteke to the club during the winter transfer window, but that deal is contingent on selling Destro to another club for a big price.

Chelsea are one of the sides who have been most keen on Destro in the past, and the highly rated striker is thought to be worth around £20 million.

While Destro does not play 90 minutes regularly for Rudi Garcia’s Roma, he has been granted opportunities to play.

The likes of Diego Costa and Loic Remy would be ahead of him in the pecking order at Chelsea, meaning that he would be unlikely to play regularly.

With Drogba set to retire at the end of the season, Jose Mourinho might be tempted into securing the 23 year old Destro as an alternative for the future, according to the Daily Express.

Arsenal In Talks For £15m Ace And Slovakian Midfield Maestro – reports

Arsenal are considering a double January move for Italy based duo Mattia Destro and Marek Hamsik in January, if they can offload enough of their unwanted stars to fund the move.

Striking duo Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski have been regularly linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium in January.

Interest in the pair has increased, and as a result, the Gunners could use the duo’s transfer fees to bring in the highly talented Serie A pair, according to the Metro.

The north London club have apparently already opened talks with Roma for Destro ahead of a possible move.

However, capturing Hamsik from Napoli will likely prove far more difficult.

To their benefit, however, Hamsik has been dropped by Napoli boss Rafael Benitez, and this could make negotiations far easier.

Arsenal do have to push through moves for both Podolski and Campbell to fund the transfers, with most of their budget set to be spent on defensive recruits.

Italian Ace Delighted To Be Linked With Arsenal Switch – reports

Roma striker Mattia Destro has revealed that he is happy to have been linked with a switch to north London side Arsenal in the near future, as reported by Tuttosport.

The striker has been linked with making a transfer to the Premier League side recently, and it now seems as though he is keen to make the move.

Destro has impressed since moving to Roma after an initially tricky period at the start of his time with the capital city club, scoring 22 goals in only 49 appearances, but the player believes he has not played the level of football that his displays merit.

The Italian striker admitted that he could yet stay with Roma, and also praised the club’s manager Rudi Garcia, who has led them to sit three points away from league leaders Juventus.

This means that a switch might not be entirely simple, but Arsenal have undoubtedly been handed a considerable boost.

He said: “Arsenal for me? The rumours are good, I’m happy for them. This is the proof that I’m doing my work well.

“There are so many things that I can improve on. I must never stop and continue to learn new things.

“The coach encourages me a lot, he is teaching me some things, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.”
