Liverpool have made an enquiry as to the availability of Porto forward Jackson Martinez, according to the Daily Express.
The Anfield club went through in the FA Cup third round on Monday night, beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 after a brace from captain Steven Gerrard.
His second goal was a beauty, a whipped free kick effort that beat the stretching Wimbledon goalkeeper.
However, reliance on Gerrard is becoming an issue, especially with his departure imminent – he has scored four goals in the last two games for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
As a result, they are intending to bring forward reinforcements to the club in January, and Porto’s Martinez is the primary target.
They have now approached the Portuguese side about pushing through a move for the £30 million rated striker.
They would hope to replace the goal shy Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli by signing him, with neither filling the boots of summer departure Luis Suarez.
