Spurs Eye £30m Liverpool Target – reports

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing up the Liverpool targeted Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

Martinez has emerged as a consistent target for the Reds over the last few months as they look to replace Luis Suarez, who moved to Barcelona in the summer for around £75 million.

The Anfield club have struggled to replace the Uruguayan since his departure, with both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggling for goals.

Liverpool’s first choice striker, Daniel Sturridge, has missed large swathes of the campaign due to injuries, which has exacerbated the situation.

As a result, Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool have chased Jackson Martinez, with £30 million earmarked to sign him in January.

However, they now face competition from north London side Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino has seen both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado struggle to convert, with Harry Kane preferred ahead of them.

The Argentine boss is looking to add more firepower to his side, and has turned to Martinez to achieve that.
