Chelsea Star: Ex-Arsenal Maestro Has Vastly Improved Side

Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has declared that the addition of former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Jose Mourinho’s squad has made the team significantly better, as reported by the Daily Star.

Fabregas was a surprise signing this summer from Barcelona, crossing the divide between the Blues and their rivals Arsenal by agreeing a £30 million move.

The Spain international is heavily associated with the Gunners, but a lack of interest from the Emirates Stadium club meant that he moved to Stamford Bridge instead.

The 27 year old was sensational as Chelsea won 2-0 against the north London side, having a huge impact against his former club.

Schurrle also featured in the match, and is of the belief that the addition of Fabregas has helped Chelsea step up another level this season.

The World Cup winner said: “He’s amazing, the way he plays. He really improves our game from last year.

“Every time he wants the ball, he keeps the ball. He plays very good passes and created the assist for second goal. We’re very happy to have him.

“We really wanted this win, we were very confident from the start. We were mentally and physically strong and at the end it was a deserved win.”

The Blues look to be the undoubted title favourites at this juncture in the season, and have been undefeated thus far in the Premier League.

Arsenal Boss Believes Elegant £33M Chelsea Star Agreed Switch In Early 2014

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he believes Cesc Fabregas agreed to make a move to Chelsea in early 2014, a long time before he was informed about the midfielder intending to leave the Nou Camp last summer, as reported by the Daily Express.

Aside from this, Wenger stated that he did not want to sign Fabregas this summer, given the abundance of creative midfielders already available to him in his squad.

The likes of Mesut Ozil, Tomas Rosicky and Santi Cazorla would all have provided stern competition to Fabregas, with attacking midfielders often forced to play wide in order to fit into Wenger’s side.

Fabregas himself has previously said that he only decided to make the £33 million switch to Chelsea this summer after being told that Arsenal were not going to take up their option to buy him, but Wenger is of the belief that the Spain international had already agreed to join Chelsea by that point.

He said: “I personally believe that deal was done a long time ago, early 2014.

“Why? My instinct. I believe his decision was already made.

“Certainly yes. I don’t want to make a big story of that because you have to accept that once he moved away from us, it’s the first separation that was difficult for us. After you have to accept that. When he went to Barcelona he could’ve gone anywhere else after.

“When he left we bought Ozil to buy an offensive player. We have Cazorla, we have Wilshere, we have Ramsey, we have Oxlade-Chamberlain, who are all offensive players. We were not in the need to buy offensive players. It makes sense if you just look at the balance of the team. I think that’s a decision that is easy to understand.

“We were in search of more up front and more defensive opportunities than creative midfielders. We have many. I think Fabregas will have a great career because he’s a great player. When he looks back at his career he will find that Arsenal and myself had a very positive impact on his career.

“Nobody can dispute that.

“After that, I hope that, for every single person in the world, they have the feeling that we had a positive influence and that he had a great career. That is all you can do. I have no personal animosity against Fabregas. I wish him well. He’s a great player and a person and player I love. Once he left us, he left us. We are all professionals and we have to accept that.

“I think everybody has the freedom to go where they want. We have to respect their decisions.

“As long as we are not in contention we cannot stop people going where they want.”

Ex-Chelsea Star Left Shocked By Arsenal Hero’s Summer Move

Former Chelsea star Bolo Zenden has been left surprised by the decision of ex-Arsenal hero Cesc Fabregas to join the Stamford Bridge club this summer, as reported by the Daily Express.

Zenden has expressed his belief that Jose Mourinho’s transfer dealings this summer has placed Chelsea in an advantageous position compared to their Premier League rivals, and believes that the west London club will be the major contenders for the title this season.

The ex-Middlesbrough player did not, however, expect Fabregas to make his shock return to London this summer, and especially did not picture him lining up in a blue shirt at the start of the season.

Fabregas has previously reiterated his affection for Chelsea’s great rivals Arsenal, and has done so even after joining Mourinho’s club.

He said: “They are the biggest force to reckon with this season I think.

“The surprising thing for me is the signing of Fabregas because he’s had such a huge impact at Arsenal and left for the biggest club, or one of the biggest clubs, in Europe when he went to Barcelona.

“For him to choose to come back to London and play for Chelsea, I was surprised to see that move come in, but it works for Chelsea.”

Chelsea have been exceptional since the start of the season, winning all three of their opening matches without much difficulty. The addition of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid has paid dividends, with the Spanish international scoring four goals in only three matches for Mourinho’s side.
