Liverpool To Launch Shock £25m Bid For Chelsea Forward – reports

Liverpool are set to make a £25 million bid for Chelsea’s forward Andre Schurrle in January, as reported by the Daily Express.

The World Cup winner returned from Brazil in top form, but has become nothing more than a squad player since the start of the campaign.

As a result, Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager, recently criticised Schurrle’s performances, clarifying that he has not been performing up to scratch, and suggesting that he is a distance from first team football right now.

Schurrle joined Chelsea in only 2013 for £18 million from Bayer Leverkusen, but has only scored 11 goals in his 54 appearances.

While the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid have both been linked with moves for Schurrle in the recent past, Liverpool are now said to have joined the battle for his signature.

Brendan Rodgers has identified the German international as the perfect player to aid his stuttering attacking line, which has seen the Reds struggle.

Expert: Wantaway Chelsea Star Set To Stay At Stamford Bridge

Chelsea star Andre Schurrle is set to stay with the Blues in the January transfer window, despite reports emanating from Germany suggesting that the player could depart in the near future, as reported by the Daily Star.

This is according to German football expert Raphael Honigstein, who believes that, despite suggestions that the player might move on in the future in the press today.

The World Cup winner has struggled for first team action since the start of the new season, a huge comedown from the summer, when he starred as Germany won the competition in Brazil.

24 year old Schurrle has started only four times in the Premier League since the season began, and this has prompted Jose Mourinho to criticise the player’s displays.

However, Honigstein sees this as more of a positive, as he feels Mourinho is more likely to criticise players that he wants to see improve.

He said: “I think it’s almost a good sign that Mourinho keeps talking about him, saying he needs to play better, because as long as Mourinho says these things about you, you think you have a good chance.

“Remember how he always used to criticise Eden Hazard? I think it’s when it goes very quiet, that’s when you know you’re on your way out.

“So I still think he’s got a great future and if he gets fit, and performs like he did at the World Cup, where he played at the highest level, then he can still grow as a player.”

Chelsea Star: Ex-Arsenal Maestro Has Vastly Improved Side

Chelsea star Andre Schurrle has declared that the addition of former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Jose Mourinho’s squad has made the team significantly better, as reported by the Daily Star.

Fabregas was a surprise signing this summer from Barcelona, crossing the divide between the Blues and their rivals Arsenal by agreeing a £30 million move.

The Spain international is heavily associated with the Gunners, but a lack of interest from the Emirates Stadium club meant that he moved to Stamford Bridge instead.

The 27 year old was sensational as Chelsea won 2-0 against the north London side, having a huge impact against his former club.

Schurrle also featured in the match, and is of the belief that the addition of Fabregas has helped Chelsea step up another level this season.

The World Cup winner said: “He’s amazing, the way he plays. He really improves our game from last year.

“Every time he wants the ball, he keeps the ball. He plays very good passes and created the assist for second goal. We’re very happy to have him.

“We really wanted this win, we were very confident from the start. We were mentally and physically strong and at the end it was a deserved win.”

The Blues look to be the undoubted title favourites at this juncture in the season, and have been undefeated thus far in the Premier League.
