Liverpool Eye Up Swoop For £28.5m Midfielder – reports

Liverpool are lining up a move for Manchester City midfielder James Milner, with the City contract rebel possibly available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Milner has not agreed to a new deal with the Premier League champions, despite the fact that his contract with the Etihad Stadium club expires at the end of the campaign.

This means that City are increasingly fearful of losing Milner on a free transfer when the season finishes.

City are therefore in a conundrum heading into the winter transfer window.

Milner’s importance to the side has been highlighted by the fact that he has been filling in as a striker during the absence of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stefan Jovetic.

His club are therefore loath to lose a consummate professional.

However, they don’t want to lose a player they paid £28.5 million for for free.

Liverpool are hopeful of taking advantage of Milner’s situation and capturing the talented England international.

Liverpool To Battle Man City For World Cup Final Keeper – reports

Liverpool are set to do battle with Manchester City for the signature of Argentinian international goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

The Anfield club are in dire need of a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window, having seen Simon Mignolet suffer from a terrible drop in form over the course of the campaign.

As a result, Brad Jones has been thrown in net by Brendan Rodgers, but despite a slight upturn in performances, Jones’ involvement is only expected to be on a temporary basis.

Rodgers has been chasing a series of goalkeepers since the summer, with little success thus far for the Northern Irish manager.

It now seems as though he might turn back to a prior transfer target.

He could, however, face competition for Romero, who plays for Sampdoria, from Man City, according to Italian outlet Il Corriere Mercantile.

Romero appeared in the World Cup final for Argentina this summer, losing to Germany at the last hurdle.

Chelsea To Battle Man Utd For £47m Midfield Maestro – reports

Chelsea are set to enter the race for Atletico Madrid central midfielder Koke in the coming weeks.

This puts them in direct competition with the two sides who are chasing them in the Premier League, Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Old Trafford side thought they had missed out on Koke, with Man City supposedly having met Atletico to discuss his transfer in recent weeks.

However, according to the Daily Star, the race is wide open and Chelsea are back in contention.

The only issue for all three sides is Koke’s price tag at Atletico, with the La Liga champions not willing to see him depart for anything less than £47 million, a staggering fee.

That is not said to be putting Jose Mourinho off, who wants to sign the ultra talented midfielder and pip his title rivals to his signature.

There is no guarantee that Koke will be keen to leave Atletico, with the player having spent his entire career there.
