Liverpool To Battle Man City For World Cup Final Keeper – reports

Liverpool are set to do battle with Manchester City for the signature of Argentinian international goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

The Anfield club are in dire need of a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window, having seen Simon Mignolet suffer from a terrible drop in form over the course of the campaign.

As a result, Brad Jones has been thrown in net by Brendan Rodgers, but despite a slight upturn in performances, Jones’ involvement is only expected to be on a temporary basis.

Rodgers has been chasing a series of goalkeepers since the summer, with little success thus far for the Northern Irish manager.

It now seems as though he might turn back to a prior transfer target.

He could, however, face competition for Romero, who plays for Sampdoria, from Man City, according to Italian outlet Il Corriere Mercantile.

Romero appeared in the World Cup final for Argentina this summer, losing to Germany at the last hurdle.
