Liverpool And Man City Dealt Blow In Chase For 16-Year-Old Wonderkid – reports

Ajax are expected to win the race to sign Stromgodset midfield wizard Martin Odegaard, dealing a blow to Liverpool and Manchester City, both of whom have chased the Norwegian international heavily.

The 16-year-old wonderkid spent time training with Liverpool during December, and was also invited to take a tour of City’s exceptional new £200 million training complex.

Premier League rivals Southampton, who are also challenging for the Champions League, were also thought to be keen.

However, in the end it was the promise of first team football that won out for Odegaard, with Ajax promising him that he will receive opportunities faster than at other clubs interested in him, as reported by the Daily Star.

Odegaard and his father are believed to be fearful that a move to the Premier League would see him miss out on opportunities for senior football.

Ajax have a renowned youth system, and often provide opportunities to young stars.

Bayern Munich were the previous favourites, but seem to have dropped off.

Man City To Pip Arsenal To £25m Forward – reports

Manchester City have set their eyes on Schalke forward Julian Draxler heading into 2015, putting them in direct competition with Arsenal for his signature.

The Manchester side received an enquiry from the Bundesliga club for their defender Matija Nastasic, and as a result, they asked about the availability of the highly rated Draxler.

Schalke have valued the German international at around £25 million.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini, who has led the Etihad Stadium club to the fourth round of the FA Cup, is keen on getting a first option on Draxler as part of any deal to sell Nastasic to Schalke.

Arsenal have been repeatedly linked with a move in the past, which would put them and Man City at odds.

Nastasic has been valued at £10 million by City, but Schalke are only willing to pay £8 million, after an initial loan deal until the summer.

This would give City scope to negotiate the deal, and possibly secure an option on a star of the future, the 21 year old Draxler, according to the Daily Star.

17-Year-Old Wonderkid Joins Man City Over Winter

Levski Sofia wonderkid Bozhidar Kraev will join Manchester City on trial on Monday, having taken in the Etihad Stadium side’s 2-1 comeback victory against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon.

The attacking midfielder is thought to be one of the world’s top young talents, and his arrival at City will be seen as something of a possible coup.

17 year old Kraev flew into Manchester at the start of the weekend, and will be with City for a week.

He will train with the Under-19 squad at City’s highly regarded new training complex, which cost the oil rich club a staggering £200 million to build, according to The Guardian.

A move for Kraev, who is on his winter break, will not come cheap for City however.

He has also been targeted by Juventus, who are sure to provide City with competition, thereby upping his value.

He’s also recently signed a new deal with the Bulgarian side, which will protect his value.

Kraev said: “I am looking forward to having really great time at City. This invitation from Manchester is an honour to me.

“The experience from the trial I’ve already had in Juventus will certainly help me at City.

“I am not nervous at all. If I don’t sign a contract with City or Juve there is absolutely no problem to stay at Levski.”
