Chelsea Eye £20m Striker For January Swoop – reports

Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Inter Milan’s Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi in the January transfer window as a possible replacement for Didier Drogba, who is set to retire at the end of the season.

They have also been handed a boost in that swoop, after Inter secured the signature of Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski on loan until the end of the season, with an option to purchase him permanently written into that deal, suggesting Roberto Mancini is already looking to replace Icardi.

In order to fund that particular move, Inter’s hierarchy might be tempted to cash in on one of their prized assets, especially with Chelsea sniffing around.

The Blues are willing to spend up to £20 million to bring their man to Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Express.

Also according to the Express, Jose Mourinho believes Icardi is the man to replace Drogba, and he is keen on securing another striker to fill his sizeable boots during the transfer window.
