Liverpool Offered £6m PL Goalscoring Hero – reports

Liverpool have been offered former Tottenham Hotspur star Jermain Defoe in an attempt to solve the attacking crisis that has engulfed their squad.

Defoe is currently playing for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer, but is thought to be desperate to return to England in the January transfer window, having failed to settle in the Canadian capital.

Other Premier League sides like Leicester City, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers have all taken interest in his signature.

However, the former England international is thought to be particularly keen on a move to Liverpool over the course of this month.

Toronto are refusing to loan him out, meaning that they are demanding a club pay a huge £6 million to bring him back to the Premier League on a permanent basis, according to the Telegraph.

Liverpool need striking additions in January, having seen summer buy Mario Balotelli fail to match up to his £16 million price tag.
