Man Utd Chase £20m Elegant Defender For January Switch – reports

Manchester United are hopeful of snapping up Everton defender Seamus Coleman in the January transfer window, and are set to offer the Goodison Park club £20 million to secure the transfer.

While the Old Trafford club believe that it will be easier for them to sign Coleman when the season finishes, they are hopeful of pushing through a move in the winter window.

As evidenced by the fact that Louis van Gaal prefers to play Antonio Valencia on the right side of defence, the Dutch manager does not believe that Rafael da Silva is good enough to feature in his side.

Coleman has developed into one of the best right backs in Europe over the last year, and would offer the attacking and defensive ability that Van Gaal demands from a full back.

The former Netherlands boss is thought to be particularly impressed with his pace, and would like to replace Rafael, who he has deemed to be unreliable, with him, as reported by The Guardian.
