Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is hopeful of signing Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba next summer, making him their marquee signing in the summer transfer window.
The Old Trafford club were hopeful that they could tempt Real Madrid into selling Gareth Bale to them after the end of the season, and they were lining up a huge £120 million move.
However, Bale said earlier this week that he had no interest in moving back to the Premier League, and Madrid chief Florentino Perez also denied that they could sell the Welsh international to the Red Devils.
Reports in Italy now suggest that Van Gaal has put the former Man Utd man at the top of his transfer wish list for the new season.
Man Utd would attempt to break their own transfer record with a bid, which could be worth a staggering £77 million.
They may have to battle Chelsea, who have repeatedly chased Pogba, for his signature, however, according to the Daily Express.
