Liverpool In Pole Position For £21.1m Title Winner After Contract Fallout – reports

Liverpool have found themselves in an ideal position to revive their interest in Paris Saint Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi, after it was revealed that the star’s lack of games for the French giants meant it was unlikely that he would sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 champions, as reported by the Daily Express.

With his deal set to expire at the end of next season, PSG are loathe to lose the player on a free transfer in a year and a half, knowing how difficult it would be to get him to agree to a new deal.

Lavezzi’s situation around his playing time is unlikely to improve any time soon, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani having finally settled into a formidable strike partnership after an unimpressive first season as a duo.

This means that any club looking to buy him could capture him for far less than the €26.5 million (£21.1 million) PSG paid.

Liverpool are known to be interested in the player, although they would face competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and Inter Milan in their quest to bring him to Anfield.
