Liverpool To Make Shock Signing Of Man Utd Hero – reports

Liverpool could be about to make one of the most surprising signings of the January transfer window, after it was revealed that they have been offered Nemanja Vidic by Inter Milan, as reported by The Metro.

The Italian giants are keen on capturing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva this month, and are exploring all possible options regarding a transfer.

Vidic has fallen out of favour at Inter after joining them in the summer, and Roberto Mancini, former Manchester City manager, is thought to be particularly keen on getting rid of him.

Reports in Italy are now suggesting that Vidic could be set for a move to Man Utd’s fierce rivals Liverpool.

This would be part of a swap deal to take Lucas to the San Siro this month.

The Serie A side have a lack of funds to complete key transfer deals during the window, and Vidic is expected to be used as a possible make weight in the deal.

Liverpool’s Brazilian Midfield Brute: Our Shape Last Night Was Not Right

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva admitted that part of his team’s struggles in the FA Cup third round against AFC Wimbledon last night was due to their inability to maintain the right shape, as reported by LiverpoolFC.com.

The Reds have been in better form recently after switching to a new formation, although they did also slip up against Leicester City in the Premier League last week.

However, a slip up against Premier League opposition is more understandable than struggling against a League Two side.

The Anfield club went 1-0 up in the game, but were pegged back after Adebayo Akinfenwa, famed for his size and strength, converted from a set piece.

At times, Liverpool looked as though they could go on to concede a second and lose the game, but Steven Gerrard stepped up and hit home a free kick to ensure progression.

Lucas believes part of the issue was that the team didn’t maintain the right shape in the game.

Lucas explained: “We probably didn’t keep the position of the team and the shape of the team like we normally do.

“In the second half, we adjusted that and kept the ball a lot better and we could have scored more goals on the counter-attack. There are a lot of things to learn, but we won and we are through to the next round.

“It’s not my first game like this in the FA Cup. In Brazil as well, we used to play in these kinds of games. You just have to have the right attitude and make sure you win the game. That’s what we have done tonight. We’re in the next round.”

Giants Confirm Interest In Brazilian Liverpool Star

Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that the Italian side are interested in signing Liverpool star Lucas Leiva in the January transfer window.

Lucas started the game against Arsenal for the Reds in the Premier League yesterday, but he has long been linked with a move away from Anfield, having fallen down the pecking order under Brendan Rodgers.

While his involvement yesterday suggests that he might have fought his way back into the side, Mancini has confirmed that they would be interested in bringing him to Serie A.

Inter would likely not be the only team looking to sign Lucas, however, with Napoli having previously expressed an interest in signing him in the summer.

The former Manchester City manager is not necessarily confident that his team can push through a move for Lucas, however, and is likely aware of the financial situation, which means pushing through moves can be difficult.

He said: “Lucas is a great player but he is a Liverpool player and it will be hard to get him.

“It certainly would be useful to us as he could help our youngsters grow.”

Our verdict

Lucas might be best served by staying at Liverpool, especially if Brendan Rodgers sticks with the 3-4-3 formation employed on Sunday. There is a place for him in that side.
