Vine: Wayne Rooney’s Sensational Goal In Man Utd’s Game Against AS Roma

England international Wayne Rooney has scored a sensational strike in Manchester United’s friendly against AS Roma tonight, as posted online by #SportsVine.

The Manchester club are facing their second pre-season game of the summer, having destroyed LA Galaxy 7-0 in their opening game in Pasadena.

Louis van Gaal has arrived at the Old Trafford club to take charge this summer, having managed the Dutch national side at the World Cup. The Dutch manager led his nation to a third place finish in the competition, with the side not losing a single game in normal time or extra time in the competition.

They have been active thus far in the transfer market this summer, signing Luke Shaw from Southampton and also adding Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.

The club will be hoping for significantly better displays and results this season, having struggled to a seventh place finish in the Premier League last season, their worst finish during the Premier League era. They will miss out on European football this season as a result.

Man Utd Could Miss Out On £48 Million Star After Club Seek To Sell Other Players

United 'in talks to sign PSG striker Cavani'

Manchester United’s reported move for Edinson Cavani could stall after Paris Saint Germain decided that they were seeking to sell Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi rather than the Uruguayan striker, as reported by the Mirror.

Spanish newspaper MARCA has reported that the French giants are looking to sell the two attacking talents in order to fund the acquisition of Angel Di Maria, who they have agreed a fee for.

This runs contrary to suggestions in French football magazine Le 10 that Manchester United could win the race for Cavani after the club and player decided it was time for him to move on.

Both players who now look likely to leave fit in naturally on the wing, whereas Angel Di Maria would slot in finely to a diamond, as PSG are possibly likely to play if they want to get the best out of both Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who also plays as a striker.

The magazine suggested that Cavani was unsettled at the Paris club and that the Manchester club were primed to swoop, given their interest in bringing him in.

However, Cavani has recently told Uruguayan media sources that there has been discussions over his position next year at PSG, which has helped assure him over his future at the side.

The Uruguayan international had previously been concerned over his role, having spent the majority of last season playing wide to accommodate the talismanic Ibrahimovic through the middle. Given the relative age of both players, it makes sense that the French club would try and retain his services.

Manchester United Set To Miss Out On Midfield Maestro As Giants Swoop

Angel Di Maria: Once again linked with Man United move

French giants Paris Saint Germain are reportedly on the cusp of securing the £51 million signing of Angel Di Maria, shattering the hopes of Manchester United, who wanted to bring the Argentinian international into Old Trafford this summer, as reported by the Mirror.

The Sun reported earlier on Saturday that Man Utd were back in the race for the midfielder, but this may have completely ended that discussion. While PSG manager Laurent Blanc suggested the deal was not yet done, the situation has seemingly changed.

Reports in Spanish newspaper MARCA suggest that the signing could be completed in the next few days. The two clubs have agreed a fee of €65 million for the signature of Di Maria, who won the Champions League with Real last season.

This would be Real Madrid’s record sale in the history of the club, surpassing the amount they received from Arsenal for Mezut Ozil last summer.

Di Maria was integral to Real last season as they secured the mythical La Decima, their tenth Champions League trophy, but the arrival of James Rodriguez threatens his position in the first team.

Similarly, Madrid’s acquisition of Toni Kroos requires further reshuffling in midfield, and Di Maria’s exit would also help fund their huge spending thus far this summer.

PSG are seemingly not slowing down with their transfer business this summer, despite being hit with a Financial Fair Play fine at the end of last season. They have already spent £50 million to sign David Luiz from Chelsea, but could push their spending over £100 million with this signing.
