Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase for Burnley striker Danny Ings, ahead of a series of Premier League rivals for his signature, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.
The talented forward’s contract with the Lancashire club expires at the end of the season, and Burnley risk losing him for nothing, aside from independently decided compensation, if that comes about.
With the likes of Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and European duo Wolfsburg and Ajax all chasing Ings, the likelihood of him agreeing a new deal has diminished considerably.
Spurs are hopeful that a bid for him during January will allow them to steal a march on the other sides.
The White Hart Lane club could even make a move for him prior to the game against Queens Park Rangers at home.
Burnley would likely not accept less than £4 million for Ings, but might be tempted to hold onto him, given that Premier League survival could depend on his goalscoring talents from now until the end of the season.
