Liverpool Hero Calls For Side To Match Wimbledon’s Work Rate

Liverpool hero John Aldridge has called for the Premier League side to ensure that they match AFC Wimbledon’s work rate tonight in the FA Cup clash, as reported by

Aldridge played in the famous cup final between Liverpool and Wimbledon, arguably the high point of Wimbledon’s famous history.

The infamous Crazy Gang triumphed on that day, winning 1-0, and tonight’s game is the first time that the two sides have clashed since Wimbledon’s rebirth.

The club was initially moved away from London and rebranded as MK Dons, but fans refused to take that situation lying down, creating a phoenix club and rising through the divisions.

They are also the holders of Wimbledon’s history, making tonight’s clash a special one for fans of the Dons and Liverpool alike.

Aldridge had a key role to play in that loss, as Dave Beasant saved his penalty, the first not to be scored in an FA Cup final.

He had advice for tonight’s Liverpool side.

“You’ve got to look upon it like any game,” he said.

“First and foremost, you’re playing a lower league side, you’ve got to realise you need to match their ambition.

“You’ve got to match their work-rate and their desire and commitment. You really have to win your personal duels. If you do that, then the cream should rise to the top.”
