Liverpool In Pole Position For 28-Year-Old Spanish Stopper – reports

Liverpool are in pole position to swoop for Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, as reported by fichajes.net.

However, Casilla is not sure about his future as of yet, meaning that no deal has been agreed for January.

Reports in the media had suggested that the Reds were on the cusp of signing Victor Valdes, the former Barcelona ‘keeper, but that intention now seems to have been scuppered by the news that he is training with Manchester United.

Casilla was also expected to make the switch to Real Madrid in the near future, but there is a belief that they have changed their preferred target in recent weeks, with Man Utd’s David De Gea regularly touted as an option.

It now seems as though Casilla has become Liverpool’s first choice to replace Simon Mignolet, but there are doubts over whether Espanyol will sell.

Liverpool have still tried to push the deal forward, contacting Casilla’s agent a few weeks ago, telling him that Casilla is their preferred signing.
