Arsenal Plot £8M January Move For Elegant Man Utd Target – reports

Arsenal are reportedly set to make an £8 million January move for Celtic’s elegant defender Virgil van Dijk, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Gunners’ defensive options have been questionable since the start of the new campaign, and a spate of injuries suffered by key defensive options have put the back line under significant pressure.

The departure of Thomas Vermaelen in the summer to Barcelona, something not seen as much of an issue at the time, has backfired, with the north London side lacking solid options in reserve.

Van Dijk has impressed considerably since joining Celtic, and reports in Scotland are now suggesting that Arsene Wenger is keeping a close eye on the Dutch defender.

He supposedly had him watched during the Scottish club’s Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb, and, accordingly, is plotting an £8 million move for him.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested, and a battle might brew between the two rivals.
