Liverpool have joined the race for West Ham defender Winston Reid’s signature, threatening to do battle with rivals Manchester United for his signature as a result, as reported by the Daily Express.
Reid has emerged as one of the more solid defenders in the Premier League, but has only one year left to run on his current deal, meaning that he can depart the east London club on a free transfer next summer.
That has alerted Man Utd to his availability, with the Old Trafford club believed to be interested in his signature.
However, reports now suggest that Liverpool are also interested in the player, and are tracking the player with the potential of signing him in the summer for nothing.
This has caused a significant dilemma for West Ham.
They could either sell him for a cut price fee in January to a Premier League rival, or see him depart for nothing next summer, assuming he does not agree a new deal.
