Revealed: What Arsenal’s Hat Trick Hero Forgot Last Night

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck scored a sensational hat trick against Galatasaray in the Champions League last night, but admitted that he forgot to collect the match ball after the game, having not scored a hat trick at a first team level before, as reported by the Daily Star.

The former Man Utd striker, who moved to the Gunners on deadline day in a £16 million move, had only scored one goal for the north London side before yesterday’s game, but put the Turkish side to the sword by scoring three spectacular goals.

This belied some criticism of the striker that existed shortly after his move, when he was often referred to as a poor finisher when given an opportunity.

Having shown his critics how wrong they were, Welbeck admitted that he was not prepared for what to do afterwards.

Welbeck said: “I forgot the match ball, didn’t I, but I will get it after.

“My last hat-trick was probably for Manchester United reserves. This is the first of my professional career.”

He did eventually collect the ball, which he had signed by all of his teammates.
