21-Year-Old Wing Wizard Keen To Use Loan To Improve Man Utd Hopes

Manchester United star Wilfried Zaha, who returned to former club Crystal Palace on loan towards the end of the transfer window, has said that he is hoping his loan spell at Selhurst Park can help him in breaking back into the team at Man Utd, as reported by the Daily Star.

Zaha has struggled to settle after his arrival at the club, with Alex Ferguson retiring shortly after securing the deal to bring him to Manchester. His successor, David Moyes, used Zaha incredibly infrequently, and Louis van Gaal does not seem to consider him to be up to scratch either, given the fact that he has granted other young players opportunities since taking over.

He said: “I signed for a couple of years at United so the goal is to do my best here for the season and go back and make sure I get back into the team and the England set-up.

“It is just great to be playing again. There is nothing like being out on the pitch and the crowd singing your name.

“It was a bit frustrating. What am I doing if I am not playing?

“I know how everything works here and the gaffer just wants to give me game-time and wants me to improve so I am just glad I am back.”

A loan spell at Cardiff City last season was also unsuccessful, with Zaha being primarily used as a substitute by the Welsh side, and the club ultimately suffered relegation.

Zaha did, however, score on his return to Palace, bagging the equaliser as they drew 3-3 with Newcastle United.

Former Boss: Man Utd Misfit Will Attract Many PL Suitors

Current Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman has said that Manchester United misfit Wilfried Zaha is a talented player, and that it would be a mistake to let him go because he will bounce back for the Old Trafford club.

He also feels as though plenty of other Premier League sides would be keen on a move for the talented youngster, as reported by the Daily Express.

Zaha is reportedly one of several players that Louis van Gaal is keen to see depart Old Trafford as he seeks to rebuild Man Utd’s deeply shattered side, but Freedman feels as though cutting Zaha loose could prove a costly mistake. The former Palace wing wizard moved to Old Trafford for £15 million only last summer.

Freedman worked with Zaha while he was at Crystal Palace, and believes the 21-year-old feels he can still impress Van Gaal. He also feels as though there will be plenty of Premier League interest in the star should Van Gaal choose not to persist with the wide player.

He said: “It is difficult for young players when you are moving home for the first time and difficult to try and settle in.

“The expectation levels are also a lot higher with a club like United. But he is a talented boy, Sir Alex saw that and paid a lot of money for him.

“That talent doesn’t leave you. Temporarily it can leave you during spells in your career. But I am pretty sure he will bounce back for United.”

“There would be many Premier League takers for Wilfried.

“However, I spoke to him when he was on tour and he is working very hard to get into the new manager’s plans.

“I am pretty sure the manager will have a conversation about what he should be doing to get into the plans.”
