Liverpool Boost In Chase For £23.5m Forward Ace – reports

Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in their chase for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, after the club’s technical director admitted that new manager Tony Pulis could let him leave the club.

Terry Burton has hinted that the midlands club could yet let Berahino leave in the January transfer window, despite refuting claims that talks have taken place with the Reds on their official Twitter account a few days ago.

There could be doubts about Berahino would fit into any system that Pulis implements in an attempt to keep West Brom in the Premier League.

The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace boss is famed for his long ball tactics, and generally requires a tall striker to get the best out of his style.

Berahino is a natural goalscorer, but might not have the hold up play in his game that Pulis requires from the lone striker he usually plays.

Burton said: “Tony [Pulis] will do and work whatever way is best for the football club.

“He tries to win football matches and if he needs to sell somebody to do something else he will sell them.

“He will do whatever is best to get results for the club and that could involve any aspect of the policy.

“Whatever he wants we will work our hardest to make happen. Tony is in total charge.”

However, he did say that they would not sell Berahino for less than £20 million.

He added: “I don’t think he [Pulis] would take that small amount of money.

“He is worth what some club would pay for him. If a club want a player bad enough and they are top quality players and if they have the finances they try and do that.”

Liverpool To Secure £23.5m Man Utd Targeted Ace In January – reports

Liverpool are set to make West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino their first signing of the January transfer window, beating Premier League rivals to his signature.

Other sides in the English top flight who have been tracking his signature include the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The trio of Premier League sides have been scouting him since the start of the campaign, especially with the England Under-21 international’s good form since the season got under way.

However, it seems as though Brendan Rodgers’ side have won the race for his signature going into the winter window, according to the Daily Star.

Liverpool are said to be on the cusp of securing a £23.5 million move for Berahino, who has scored an excellent seven goals in 18 league games this season.

The Reds need a new striker, with both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggling to settle since their summer arrivals.

Liverpool And Man Utd To Battle For £24m PL Star Striker – reports

Liverpool are looking to fund the purchase of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, valued at around £24 million, through the sale of Mario Balotelli in January.

They will face significant competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the West Brom player’s signature, however, meaning that any move cannot be guaranteed to take place.

Berahino has been in excellent form this campaign for the Baggies, hitting home eight goals, and impressing for England’s Under-21 side.

Liverpool see him as a direct replacement for Balotelli, who has failed to score in the Premier League since his arrival from AC Milan in the summer for £16 million.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly willing to spend big in January to capture a proven goalscorer, and therefore a move could be completed soon after the window opens.

Balotelli has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan, with former boss Roberto Mancini back in charge there.

Liverpool will almost certainly have to battle Man Utd, with Louis van Gaal believed to be a fan, according to the Daily Express.
