Liverpool Boost In Chase For £23.5m Forward Ace – reports

Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in their chase for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, after the club’s technical director admitted that new manager Tony Pulis could let him leave the club.

Terry Burton has hinted that the midlands club could yet let Berahino leave in the January transfer window, despite refuting claims that talks have taken place with the Reds on their official Twitter account a few days ago.

There could be doubts about Berahino would fit into any system that Pulis implements in an attempt to keep West Brom in the Premier League.

The former Stoke City and Crystal Palace boss is famed for his long ball tactics, and generally requires a tall striker to get the best out of his style.

Berahino is a natural goalscorer, but might not have the hold up play in his game that Pulis requires from the lone striker he usually plays.

Burton said: “Tony [Pulis] will do and work whatever way is best for the football club.

“He tries to win football matches and if he needs to sell somebody to do something else he will sell them.

“He will do whatever is best to get results for the club and that could involve any aspect of the policy.

“Whatever he wants we will work our hardest to make happen. Tony is in total charge.”

However, he did say that they would not sell Berahino for less than £20 million.

He added: “I don’t think he [Pulis] would take that small amount of money.

“He is worth what some club would pay for him. If a club want a player bad enough and they are top quality players and if they have the finances they try and do that.”

Liverpool Line Up €30m 8-Goal PL Ace – reports

Liverpool are reportedly targeting West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino in their attempts to improve their side during January, as reported by fichajes.net.

Berahino has emerged as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League since the start of the season, scoring eight goals in his 11 appearances in all competitions.

There have been increased calls for him to be included in the senior side for England, with Berahino continuing to impress at Under 21 level under Gareth Southgate.

Liverpool have stuttered since the start of the new campaign, with Brendan Rodgers’s side failing to play the same style of dynamic football that they achieved last season.

As a result, they are expected to improve considerably in January, and Berahino has emerged as a key target.

The Reds are apparently willing to pay €30 million to secure his signature in January, which would represent a massive fee for the 21 year old hitman.

PL Winner Seeks Man Utd Scalp Tonight

Joleon Lescott has had a good record against Manchester United over the years, and is keen to impress against them again tonight, as reported by the Daily Star.

With his career seemingly in tatters towards the end of last season, West Brom have given him a reprieve, and he faces off against his old rivals again in the Premier League tonight.

Lescott will almost certainly start, having played a key role in Manchester City’s dramatic title win against Man Utd in 2012.

The former England international also played his part when City went to Old Trafford and battered Man Utd 6-1, a famous turning point in the history of the Premier League.

This was not the only time that Lescott impressed against Man Utd, playing his part in the FA Cup semi-final, which City won.

The trophy win in that competition kicked off the era of recent success at the Etihad Stadium.

Lescott said: “The 6-1 win was a nice game. I think at the time everyone knew City were decent and could do something, but to go there and play the way we did on and off the ball made a difference.

“That was the important one.

“I get a lot more responsibility here, the coaches ask me a lot of questions about how we did things at City, they want my opinion, my experience.

“I’d never call myself a big fish though. It wouldn’t cross my mind to see it like that.

“I won’t beat about the bush, it’s not as glamorous as City, but West Brom are an established Premier League team.

“We finished 17th last year. That’s not good enough.

“We’re not looking to finish 16th, we’re looking for top half. To really do something.”
