Ipswich Town have targeted Liverpool defender Ryan McLaughlin.
The Reds brought McLaughlin, 20, through their academy, but he is yet to make a senior appearance for the Anfield side at any point in his career.
He did, however, spend a successful period on loan at Barnsley last season, and this highlighted his talents to Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy.
McCarthy has assembled an experienced but talented side at Portman Road, and has been rewarded with his side’s rise up the table.
They have been one of the more dominating teams in the league this season, and have climbed to second in the table.
If they can maintain their position in the league, they will win promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
The Tractor Boys are in an awkward position with one of their top talents, however.
Full back Tyrone Mings has been targeted by Arsenal and Crystal Palace, and a potential £8m move could mean a January departure.
