Liverpool And Manchester City Both Eyeing Up ‘New Raheem Sterling’ – Reports

Despite having played only 39 minutes of Premier League football for Newcastle United, Rolando Aarons has been targeted by both Manchester City and Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window, as reported by the Daily Star.

Aarons, who is set to make his first start for Newcastle against Southampton at the weekend, scored and set up another goal against Crystal Palace before the international break. The young winger was exceptional as he helped Newcastle turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-3 draw against Neil Warnock’s new side.

The 18 year old has been compared to Raheem Sterling due to his quality on the ball and pace, power and trickery, and like Sterling, was born in Kingston, Jamaica. Much like Sterling, however, Aarons has also made himself available for England, playing for the Under 20s last Friday.

Manchester City were alerted to Aarons’ talent when they scouted Newcastle prior to their clash on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Liverpool have also asked to be kept informed of any changes to the youngster’s availability, with German side Schalke also keen on bringing him into the club.

18-Year-Old Newcastle Wing Wizard Set For First Start – Reports

Rolando Aarons, who impressed considerably for Newcastle United in their last game against Crystal Palace, is set to make his first start for the north east club in their clash at Southampton on Saturday, as reported by the Daily Star.

Aarons forced his way into Newcastle’s first team setup with a stunning pre-season, including setting up a goal against German giants Schalke in a tournament game in Germany. He then scored against Crystal Palace prior to the international break, and also set up another goal as Alan Pardew’s men drew 3-3 with Neil Warnock’s new side.

The youngster’s good form has not stopped there, however, as he starred during his first game for the England Under 20 side last Friday, when he featured against Romania.

There was an intention to use Aarons infrequently during his freshman Premier League season, but with the pressure ramping up on Pardew, he looks set to hand him his first start.

Pardew has not been helped by Siem de Jong’s long term injury or Yoan Gouffran’s struggles, but Aarons’ good form gives Pardew an option that he probably never thought he had.
