Chelsea Agree Deal To Sell £7m Star To Arsenal – reports

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to sell their £7 million rated goalkeeper Petr Cech to city rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window, as reported by the Daily Star.

Despite having established himself as a key player at Chelsea over an extended period of time, Cech has found himself cast down the pecking order after the return to the club of Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

The Czech international is not thought to be happy with the situation, and is set to look to move when January rolls around.

Arsenal are thought to be leading the chase for the giant stopper.

However, new news suggests that the Gunners have gone a step further, and actually agreed a £7 million deal for the player with the Blues.

This could cast doubts on Wojciech Sczcesny’s future, with Cech undoubtedly not willing to move unless he is first choice.

Chelsea Hero Believes Arsenal Can Capture £7m Star – reports

Chelsea old boy  Jason Cundy believes that Jose Mourinho will be tempted into selling Petr Cech to Premier League rivals Arsenal if they continue to express an interest, as he believes the north London side do not represent a realistic title threat to the Blues, as reported by the Daily Star.

The return of Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid heralded the end of an era for Cech.

He was comfortably first choice at Stamford Bridge for an extended period of time, but the younger goalkeeper has displaced him in the team.

His future has therefore been questioned repeatedly, and Cech himself has hinted that he is not particularly happy to sit on the bench and wait for any opportunities that might arise.

As a result, Arsenal are thought to be lining up a £7 million bid for the Czech keeper.

Cundy himself feels as though this is a realistic possibility.

He said: “Of all Chelsea’s current squad, I’d suggest Petr Cech is the most likely to leave.

“Where could Cech go? Well Arsenal have been mentioned in some quarters, and I think that move makes a lot of sense.

“When Jose first joined Chelsea, back in 2004, he’d never have dreamed of selling a top player to Arsenal, because they were genuine rivals at the time.

“But nowadays – and I know I’m going to get pelters from Arsenal fans for saying this – the two clubs are at completely different levels.

“Arsenal aren’t competing with Chelsea any more. They live in the Premier League’s top four, but seem to have given up challenging for the title.

“Jose will know that, and he’ll also know he can get good money out of them for Cech.

“Last year he sold Mata to United because they were struggling, and because Mata didn’t fit into his system; he wasn’t strong or versatile enough to be a Mourinho player.

“Jose knew United weren’t competing with Chelsea at that particular time, so he was happy to give them Mata. You can see something similar happening with Cech.

“By signing for Arsenal, Cech could stay in London and he’d get regular playing time at a big club.

“Would Cech be a good signing for Arsenal? Absolutely.”

Arsenal Challenged By Giants In Hunt For Chelsea Star – reports

Arsenal have been challenged by Italian giants AS Roma in their hunt to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, as reported by the Daily Star.

Cech has found himself in a relatively unique position this season, given the development of his career otherwise.

Despite Cech having been first choice for the Stamford Bridge club ever since his arrival in the Premier League, Jose Mourinho has turned to returned loan star Thibaut Courtois to fill the space between the sticks since the start of the season.

Courtois’ impressive displays for Atletico Madrid over the last few years while on loan meant that it was almost impossible for him not to take over from Cech.

As a result, Cech is likely to leave the Blues in the coming months in search of more first team football.

Arsenal were considered to be one of the sides tracking him, but Roma have now emerged as another possible destination.

The Italian side might need to replace Morgan De Sanctis, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
