Arsenal have reportedly entered the race for Barcelona’s left back star Jordi Alba, and will have to compete with fellow Premier League side Manchester United for his signature, as reported by the Daily Express.
The north London club have supposedly identified the defender as a possible improvement to their squad, which has been significantly hampered by injuries in the defensive area of the pitch.
Alba began his career at Barcelona well, and played a key role as the Catalan giants won the La Liga crown in 2013 under Tito Villanova.
Last season, however, he struggled for form and games under Gerardo Martino.
Barca’s new manager, Luis Enrique, has made a series of changes to the previously settled squad since getting the job.
There is precedent for Alba to look at, with Dani Alves set to depart in January after being dropped for Douglas at right back.
This has alerted both Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal to his availability, with both considering a £25 million bid for the player.
