Arsenal and Liverpool track James Milner

@awinehouse1

James Milner’s sudden desire to leave Manchester City has put both Arsenal and Liverpool on alert, with both sides expressing an interest in the England international, according to The Times. His desire to move stems from him finding himself on the fringes of the first team this season, with Pellegrini favouring other players to him.

With UEFA tightening their restrictions on City next season, including a need for eight homegrown talents in their shrunken 21-man Champions League squad, City are not particularly keen to lose a player who has developed into an incredibly versatile asset in the City squad.

Liverpool have lacked a player of Milner’s style in midfield, and this was symbolised by the manner in which they were repeatedly overrun after the sending off and subsequent suspension of Jordan Henderson during their clash with City.

Milner will take part in England’s World Cup efforts this summer. He is highly rated by manager Roy Hodgson, but Hodgson would find Milner’s selection ahead of other players who’ve played more football criticised.

Manchester City striker has no desire to leave

Speaking to Sky Italia, Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic has said that he has no interest in leaving Manchester City this summer, despite rumours linking him to a return to Italy with Napoli and his stop-start injury hampered debut campaign in the Premier League.

In his interview with the Italian broadcaster, he said: “I will stay at City, I have not even thought about returning to Italy.

“I am happy here and know that I will play more next season.”

Jovetic was unfortunately struck by injury shortly after his arrival from Fiorentina. Despite being a star at the Viola, he struggled to make an impression at City and was only able to make his debut in September 2013. He then suffered another injury, making his return in January and finishing a title winning season with a haul of six goals.

He added: “When I was fit, I played 30-40 minutes, sometimes even as a starter.

“I’m sure that next year, when I spend more time preparing with the team, I will play more and score more.

“I came here to stay for a long time, and I think that for a first season, two trophies is okay.”

Manchester City trio make Argentina World Cup squad but Tevez misses out

@awinehouse1

A trio of Manchester City talents have made the provisional 30-man Argentinian World Cup squad, but former Manchester City and United man Carlos Tevez has seemingly missed out.

Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta have unsurprisingly made the cut, given their innate quality. Martin Demichelis is also part of Argentina’s setup this summer, with his staggering improvement in the Premier League boding well for Argentina’s defensive setup ahead of the tournament in Brazil.

Carlos Tevez’s exclusion comes as a slight shock, especially given the inclusion of former Wigan man Franco Di Santo ahead of him. Tevez has, however, struggled with injuries in the latter half of this season at Juventus, and questions must remain over his fitness.

Unsurprisingly, the likes of Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Ezequiel Lavezzi have also made the squad.

The squad in full is as follows:

Goalkeepers:

  • Sergio Romero,
  • Mariano Andújar,
  • Agustín Orion.

Defenders:

  • Ezequiel Garay,
  • Federico Fernández,
  • Pablo Zabaleta,
  • Marcos Rojo,
  • José María Basanta,
  • Hugo Campagaro,
  • Nicolás Otamendi,
  • Martín Demichelis,
  • Gabriel Mercado,
  • Lisandro López.

Midfielders:

  • Fernando Gago,
  • Lucas Biglia,
  • Javier Mascherano,
  • Ever Banega,
  • Angel Di María,
  • Maximiliano Rodríguez,
  • Ricardo Alvarez,
  • Augusto Fernández,
  • Enzo Pérez,
  • José Sosa,
  • Fabián Rinaudo.

Attackers:

  • Sergio Agüero,
  • Lionel Messi,
  • Gonzalo Higuaín,
  • Ezequiel Lavezzi,
  • Rodrigo Palacio,
  • Franco Di Santo.
