Chelsea Scheme £25m Move For Everton Star – reports

Chelsea are plotting a sensation £25 million move for Everton right back Seamus Coleman for next summer, as reported by the Daily Star.

The defender has developed into one of the most exciting attacking players in his position in the entirety of Europe over the last few seasons, having been signed by Everton from Sligo Rovers for only £60,000 a few years ago.

That was the handiwork of newly appointed Real Sociedad manager David Moyes, and Chelsea have been tracking the talented star for two seasons.

They have now decided that Coleman is the man to take the right back position in the side, and are hoping to make a £25 million move for the Republic of Ireland international.

Jose Mourinho believes that Coleman is right player to bring more dynamism to his already solid defence.

Branislav Ivanovic is also turning 31 next year.

Everton are already looking at alternative right backs.

Sensational Liverpool Starlet Pans His Critics

Liverpool wonderkid Raheem Sterling has hit back at his critics after several people questioned his commitment, following his absence from England’s starting line up against Bosnia last night, as reported by the Daily Express.

Sterling did have an effect on the game, despite not starting, winning the free kick that Wayne Rooney converted after he came on from the bench.

However, Roy Hodgson suggested to the press pre-match that he had left Sterling out after being told by the Anfield star that he was feeling tired at a training session on Saturday.

With England returning from Talinn, where they won 1-0 to continue their perfect start to the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, Sterling posted a cryptic tweet, suggesting to his critics that he has done no wrong.

“Now listening too.. Excuse me for being human. On my way home,” he tweeted.

The manager has also defended Sterling after the game, saying that him and Sterling decided what to do together.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has worried over Sterling suffering burn out in recent weeks.

Arsenal Legend Declares Man Utd Star Will Never Be The Greatest

Arsenal hero Paul Merson has declared that Wayne Rooney will never match up to Bobby Charlton as England’s greatest player, despite the fact that the Manchester United star is on the cusp of breaking Charlton’s goalscoring record for the national side, as reported by the Daily Star.

Rooney scored a penalty against San Marino on Thursday night, which took him to within two goals of Jimmy Greaves.

However, the Man Utd striker undoubtedly has his eyes on Charlton’s goalscoring record, and will match it with only six more goals for the Three Lions.

Wayne Rooney to score two against Estonia and England to win is 3/1 with William Hill

Merson, who played 21 times for the national team, does not believe that Rooney’s achievements will match up to greats of the past.

In fact, he believes that the former Everton forward’s poor record in tournaments means that his goals are simply less important than the greats.

He is, however, aware that Rooney will still go down in history if he manages to break the record.

Merson wrote: “It’s a massive achievement to score more goals than anyone else for your country and he will go down in history for it.

“I mean, think of all the great strikers who have tried and failed before him – Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Michael Owen.

“But you have to put it in perspective. Sir Bobby Charlton scored 49 goals for England against much better teams.

“How often did that England team play against sides as poor as San Marino and Estonia? It just didn’t happen in those days.

“Rooney could also break the record having won less caps than Charlton, who finished on 106. But he hasn’t won the World Cup, has he?

“And how many goals has he ever scored in a World Cup semi-final?

“Bobby Charlton put England into the final when he scored twice against Portugal in the semis in 1966.”
