Spurs Back In For 28-Year-Old Elegant Defender In January – reports

Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a move for Sporting Lisbon right back Miguel Lopes in January, as reported by the Daily Express.

The defender was a target for the club when Andres Villas Boas first took charge of the north London side, after Lopes returned from a loan spell at Lyon.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Lopes is being considered as a possible addition this month by the White Hart Lane club.

When Spurs were originally linked with a move for him, Lopes suffered a series of injuries and the move fell apart.

However, a spell on loan at Lyon last season proved his fitness, and he returned to Sporting this season.

Despite that, Lopes has made only three appearances for the Portuguese giants this campaign.

Spurs are said to have sent scouts to watch him play during the festive period, and are now interested in completing a deal for him to improve their options on the right side of defence.

He would provide competition to current first choice Kyle Walker.
