Liverpool Plot £3m Bid For Wantaway Goalkeeper – reports

Liverpool are eyeing up a £3 million move for Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Murara Neto in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Brazilian stopper confirmed to his club on January 3rd that he was not intending to renew his deal with them.

A Fiorentina statement read: “ACF Fiorentina must announce that goalkeeper Norberto Murara Neto today officially informed the club of his intention not to prolong his contract with the Viola. The decision is definitive.

“Neto was keen to make it known that his decision is entirely unrelated to financial motivations, with his desire to be free to decide his own future the sole reason behind his move.”

As a result, the Reds have seen him as an ideal target for a cut price swoop during the winter transfer window, which opened on Friday.

Liverpool have seen Simon Mignolet suffer a terrible drop of form since the start of the season, and need a replacement for their first choice goalkeeper.

While Brad Jones has played in many of Liverpool’s recent games, Mignolet was recalled for the clash with Leicester City.

In that game, the Anfield club saw a 2-0 lead change into a 2-2 draw.

While Brendan Rodgers is still thought to be keen on a loan move for Petr Cech, realistically he feels Neto is the option to provide competition to Mignolet.
