Champions Agree To Sign Chelsea Ace As Liverpool Miss Out – reports

Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement to sign Fernando Torres in the January transfer window from Chelsea, with Liverpool set to miss out on his signature.

It has been widely reported that the Spanish international was set to return to Stamford Bridge in the winter window, having had an unsuccessful loan spell with AC Milan in the first half of the season.

Brendan Rodgers was thought to be interested in bringing him back to Anfield, where he so successfully played prior to his costly £50 million move to Chelsea a few years ago, one which saw him lose form and confidence in front of goal.

It now seems, however, that a move to Atletico Madrid has been agreed, according to Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Reports suggested that negotiations were underway, but it now seems as though an 18 month loan deal has been struck between Atleti and Chelsea for Torres.
