After Man Utd Blow, Liverpool Target Cut Price Stopper – reports

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their chase for former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, with the Anfield club seeing a long term target instead choose to train with Manchester United.

They have, however, shifted their aims in terms of which goalkeeper they want to sign next, with Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto their latest target, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Brendan Rodgers has reportedly been very keen to replace current first choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian international has struggled since the start of the new season, and Rodgers seemed to be tracking Valdes in an attempt to replace him before January.

However, he confirmed at the weekend that a move for the Spain international would not be happening.

Instead, it now seems as though Neto is his first choice, with the stopper wanting only £20,000 a week to move.

He could even be available for cheap.

Neto has confirmed the fact that he is not yet working on his renewal with Fiorentina, saying: “I am not thinking about the renewal. I’m just concentrating on my work and being in good form.

“The club would like me to renew straight away but we haven’t reached an agreement yet. Fiorentina remains my first choice.”
