Manchester United starlet Ben Pearson has revealed that he wants a place in Louis van Gaal’s side going forward, as reported by the Daily Express.
The youngster has seen a series of young talent find their way into the first team under the Dutch manager, with an almost exclusively young side having suffered a humiliating defeat in the League Cup against MK Dons.
The Old Trafford club lost that game 4-0 in the second round.
The side have underperformed in the Premier League, and Pearson clearly feels that there will be more opportunities for young talent like himself to break into the struggling side.
Pearson said: “The manager has played a few youngsters already.
“Tyler [Blackett] has been playing regularly and Reece James has played. A few of the lads were involved against MK Dons and, hopefully, all of us can come through.
“The manager has done it previously at Ajax and Barcelona and I hope he can do it here.
“There are a few young lads pushing for first-team places. It is all about getting an opportunity.
“There are always lads going up and training with the first team.. You’ve just got to impress in those training sessions.
“I have done it a few times and it’s good but a lot faster and there is a lot more pressure. It’s great playing with players you’ve watched as a kid and learning off them.”
Man Utd fell to a 5-3 loss against Leicester City at the weekend, despite leading 3-1 going into the latter stages of the match.
A sending off suffered by Tyler Blackett towards the end, one of the youngsters who Van Gaal has used, compounded their misery, directly leading to Leicester’s fifth goal.
