Manchester United have reportedly looked to sign Netherlands youngster Tahith Chong from Feyenoord, with the Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal targeting a young compatriot in an attempt to bolster Man Utd’s young ranks, as reported by The Metro.
Chong first caught the eye of the club at a youth tournament in Manchester, with his displays impressing to the extent that the club’s scouts have invited him over for a training session.
He has also represented the Netherlands at Under-16 level, which shows his pedigree aside from recent good displays under the watchful gaze of Man Utd’s scouting team.
Man Utd have recruited heavily this summer, signing a series of big money players, which caused fears among luminaries of the club that they would abandon a supposed policy of developing young talent. The signing of Chong would probably go some way to assuaging that fear.
The Old Trafford club got their first win of the season against QPR this weekend, who looked poor defensively.
