Injury Hit £25m Liverpool Star Closing In On Return To Action

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that £25 million Liverpool acquisition Adam Lallana, who joined the club from Southampton this summer, is on the cusp of returning to action for the Merseyside club, having suffered an injury during pre season, as reported by the Daily Star.

Lallana suffered a knee injury while the Anfield club were on tour in America this summer, and it seemed like he would be out injured for an extended period of time.

The England international has had the nightmare start to his time at Liverpool, missing out on the first month of the brand new Premier League season, but Rodgers has said that he is making good progress and he will soon be making a competitive appearance for the Reds.

Lallana even scored in a behind closed doors friendly against Wolves, who play in the Championship, last week, and there is a suggestion that he could be involved against Aston Villa tomorrow.

Rodgers said: “He’s looked very good. He is obviously short of match fitness, but the only way he is going to get that is by playing.

“He featured in the game we had here at Melwood against Wolves behind closed doors, scored the winning goal and did very well. In training he’s worked very, very hard.

“It’s just about him getting the minutes and the game time, and we’ll look forward to introducing him back to that over the next couple of weeks.”
