Despite Chelsea winning all three of their opening games of the season in some style, Jose Mourinho has missed out on the Manager of the Month award, with Swansea City’s Garry Monk pipping him to the first managerial trophy of the season, as reported by the Daily Express.
Mourinho’s early season success was highly expected, with many considering Chelsea to be comfortable favourites for the Premier League crown. Monk’s wins have come as something of a surprise, however, with three wins from three putting them towards the top of the still young league table.
This is Monk’s first permanent role as a manager, having retired from first team action last season, but he’s performed well in the early days of his career.
In fact, the first game of the season represented a much tougher test than any game Chelsea have faced thus far this season, with Monk’s Swans shattering early season optimism at Old Trafford by beating Man Utd 2-1.
