Arsenal Fall Behind In Chase For £20m Newcastle Midfield Dynamo – report

Arsenal have been dealt a hammerblow in their chase to sign Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, with Paris Saint Germain looking to snap him up.

A report from the Sunday People suggests that the Ligue 1 side might have the advantage over Arsenal, in that they are willing to provide Newcastle with an immediate and direct replacement.

Newcastle fans would be delighted to hear that the player on the table for them is none other than former hero Yohan Cabaye.

Cabaye moved to PSG last January for a huge fee, but has failed to settle since his return to France, and is certainly not as integral as he was at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle value Sissoko at £20 million, and while Arsenal are thought to be keen on him as the man to lead their midfield, they could fall behind in the race if Cabaye is on the table.

Securing his return would make sense for Mike Ashley, who could face revolt from the passionate Toon Army if he sanctions the sale of Sissoko without improving the side.

Magical Ex-PL Maestro Opens Door To Arsenal Move

Former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has opened the door to a move to Arsenal after admitting that he is currently unhappy with life at Paris Saint Germain, as reported by the Daily Star.

The France international moved to the Paris club in January last year from the north east club, but has never truly found a settled role in the first team for the Ligue 1 champions.

This has put Arsenal on red alert, with Arsene Wenger known to be a long term admirer of the creative midfielder.

In fact, the north London club were PSG’s main rivals to Cabaye’s signature before he decided to return to his homeland.

He said: “You have to accept being a substitute, but I don’t resign myself to that. In training sessions, I have to give my best and show my desire to play.

“When I am on the pitch, I feel it is not perfect and that I often have to leave too soon. But I know the coach and staff have to make choices and I respect that.

“Have I spoken to Laurent Blanc? No. What do I tell him? I am 28 years old and not new to the job. But I am not satisfied with the situation.

“Am I completely happy? To be honest, no. It is a new situation for me, but I don’t complain. It is the first time I haven’t played regularly for my club.

“With the French team, if one day the national team coach decides to play me less because I don’t play often enough for my club, then I would need to take stock with my representatives.”

Arsenal have received a further boost in their chase for the pass master, with Cabaye admitting that he does miss playing in England, having acclimatised exceptionally after moving to St. James’ Park.

The 28 year old said: “Do I sometimes miss England? Yes. Sometimes I think about it, but I immediately sweep that away because it would cause distraction.

“I am at the Parc des Princes and I need to find the right atmosphere.

With Mesut Ozil now ruled out until at least the beginning of 2015, Cabaye could be an ideal addition for the Gunners.
