Manchester United are apparently in talks to sign Galatasaray midfielder, as reported by Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
The website believes that contact has taken place between Sneijder and the Old Trafford club over a potential switch in the near future.
According to the report, Sneijder is keen to leave the Turkish side over the next few months, and Louis van Gaal is looking to bring his former international charge to the Premier League.
The Dutch international has been one of many players at Galatasaray affected by financial problems at the club.
Sneijder has not been paid his full wages for periods of this season.
As a result, he has been consistently linked with a move away from Galatasaray in recent weeks and months.
Man Utd are an obvious link for the player, who appeared under Louis van Gaal at the World Cup for the Dutch national side.
He featured as the Netherlands finished in third.
Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder is open to moving away from the Turkish side in the near future, as reported by the Daily Express.
That is according to his agent, while the player himself has repeatedly insisted that he wants to stay with the Turkish club.
A series of problems at the side, primarily financial, mean that there has been trouble in getting him to commit, and there have been problems between the player and manager too.
He was left on the bench by former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for the side’s 3-0 loss to Trabzonspor, a devastating result for a side that generally bosses the league.
Tax reform could cut Sneijder’s wages going forward, and this news, along with the non-payment of wages, was leaked to the press.
While talks are already underway about a new deal to fix that issue, his agent Guido Albers says that these might collapse if he isn’t played.
Speaking on Bugun TV he said: “Today, we plan on talking to the club to get their thoughts on the future of Wesley. I do not know why he is not playing.
“He wants to stay, but nobody likes to be on the bench so we will see…”
Both Chelsea and Man Utd have chased Sneijder in the past, and could now look to move again.
Manchester United are in pole position to capture Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder in January, as reported by the Daily Express.
Juventus have dropped their interest in the Netherlands international, which means Man Utd are leading the charge for the hugely talented midfielder.
Sneijder is expected to leave Galatasaray in January, despite having only joined them two years ago, with the player supposedly unsettled at the Turkish side.
This is, in part, because Sneijder and his teammates have seen Galatasaray struggle to pay the wages, which is bound to unsettle any player at any club.
Juventus were believed to have agreed a fee to bring Sneijder back to Italy, where he made his mark with Inter Milan.
However, reports in Italy today have suggested that their interest in the player has ended.
This means Man Utd, who were heavily linked to him in the summer, are in pole position to bag him.
Sneijder has a release clause of only £16 million, and Louis van Gaal is known to be keen on a reunion.
