Agent To Fly Out To Discuss Huge Liverpool Deal – reports

Liverpool are set to host Victor Valdes’ agent Gines Carvajal in the next few days, as reported by the Daily Star.

There are claims floating about suggesting that the former Barcelona is so keen to move to the Reds that he is willing to take a pay cut on his previous wages, which were reported to be £90,000 a week while he was at the Catalan giants.

In fact, with Carvajal set to fly into the United Kingdom to discuss a deal, there are suggestions that the club and player have already agreed terms for a move to Merseyside.

Liverpool are able to bring Valdes in in the next few weeks, despite the transfer window being shut currently.

This is because the Spain international has found himself starting the new season as a free agent.

He allowed his contract with Barca to expire at the end of last season, but a proposed move to AS Monaco fell apart after he suffered a significant injury.

Liverpool beat QPR 3-2 in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool’s Move For Global Star Could Break Down – reports

Liverpool’s mooted move for former Barcelona star Victor Valdes could break down over the player’s refusal to go on trial with the Anfield club, as reported by the Daily Star.

Brendan Rodgers, manager of the Reds, is thought to have lost faith in current first choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, and has identified Valdes as an ideal option to provide competition and push for a first team berth.

The former Barca man departed the club this summer after letting his contract expire.

Valdes agreed a move to AS Monaco, but the deal fell apart after the player suffered a serious injury at the end of last season.

Despite Rodgers’s interest in the player, he is aware of the risk surrounding his possible signing, and wanted to assess the player in a trial at Melwood before confirming a deal.

However, the player is not willing to go on trial, and this could cause the oft mooted deal to collapse.

Liverpool’s Plan B: Rodgers Targets €20M Shot Stopping Star

Liverpool have targeted Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, in the event that their hopes of capturing former Barcelona star Victor Valdes in the coming weeks fall apart, as reported by Spanish outlet fichajes.net.

Casilla has been consistently linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the belief that the shot stopper would be an ideal replacement for the veteran Iker Casillas.

However, David De Gea has now been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu instead, and this might have an impact on Casilla’s future.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has lost faith in Belgian international Simon Mignolet, and is looking for a replacement.

The Reds are said to have identified Victor Valdes as a good solution, although there are doubts remaining over his fitness.

Valdes’s switch is subject to a medical, and should he fail that, Liverpool see Casilla as another option.

However, Casilla would be far more expensive, with Espanyol demanding €20 million for the highly talented Spanish keeper.
