Sergio Aguero To Return For Arsenal And Chelsea Clashes

Manchester City have been handed a huge boost ahead of their ties against Arsenal and Chelsea in the new year, with Sergio Aguero set to return in time to face off with the Premier League giants.

The game against Chelsea is likely to have a huge impact on the destination of the title at the end of the season.

City sit three points behind Chelsea in the Premier League, and should they manage to maintain that gap, they could close it with a victory at Stamford Bridge in early 2015.

Aguero suffered a knee injury early in December, and has been ruled out of the games over the Christmas period.

However, Manuel Pellegrini today confirmed that the Premier League’s top scorer is now on track to return by the second half of January.

This puts him on a collision course with both Chelsea and Arsenal, and City will need Aguero’s talents to get a result.

“Maybe (Stevan) Jovetic and (Vincent) Kompany will be back soon, at the end of this week or next week,” Pellegrini said.

“But Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero will not be back until the second part of January.”

Liverpool Turned Down £19m ‘Dream’ Move For Sergio Aguero

Manchester City star has previously admitted to dreaming of playing for Liverpool, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Reds were also on the cusp of signing him at the age of 17, but turned down the move after his club, Independiente, demanded a staggering £19 million for him, deemed to be too much for the Anfield side.

This was during Rafael Benitez’s time in charge of the Merseyside team, and Aguero said in 2006 that he dreamt of playing for Liverpool.

He said in 2006: “If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League.

“I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there.”

They were not the only Premier League side chasing him at the time, however, with Manchester United and Chelsea also keen on his signature.

Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan were also thought to be chasing him before balking at the huge price tag.

Atletico Madrid eventually stumped up the £19 million fee for him, and they doubled their money by selling him to Manchester City for £38 million in 2011.
