£20M Man Utd Star: Rooney Red Put Us Under Pressure

Manchester United’s Dutch international star Robin van Persie has revealed that Wayne Rooney’s red card against West Ham on Saturday made the last period of the clash a more difficult encounter than expected, as reported by the Daily Express.

Having followed up Rooney’s opener with a strike of his own, Van Persie saw West Ham put the Old Trafford club’s defence under incredible pressure towards the end of the game, with only an offside flag chalking out an equaliser from Kevin Nolan.

This was the result of Rooney’s red card, which came after he kicked out at Stewart Downing.

As a result, Rooney will be suspended for three games, but Van Persie revealed that the incident could have cost them the game, assuming they had not held out.

He said: “At times it was a bit nerve-wracking but we did ever so well and everyone fought really hard.

“I thought we played really well in the first half but in the second it was a completely different game because of the red card.

“It was a bit frustrating to concede a goal when we did because in that period in the game the only way they looked like scoring was from a set-piece and it happened, just before half-time.

“That was a bad moment for us but I think we did really in the end to win this game. For everyone involved with Manchester United I think this is about more than just the three points.”

It has to be said that West Ham were incredibly unlucky not to emerge from the game with a point, with only staunch defending keeping them at bay.

31-Year-Old Man Utd Star Reveals Leicester Post Mortem

Manchester United star Robin van Persie has revealed that the club’s players held  thorough post mortem after their 5-3 defeat to Leicester City last weekend, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Dutch international forward saw his team slump from a 3-1 lead to a 5-3 loss, conceding four goals without any reply from the Old Trafford club.

Van Persie’s first season at Man Utd saw them win the Premier League title, but it has been downhill from there for the ex-Arsenal man.

The prolific forward was a key part of David Moyes’s side as they fell to a seventh placed finish in the league last season, missing out on the Champions League as a result.

Van Persie has also been heavily involved since Louis van Gaal’s reign in charge of the club began, and the Dutch coach has only managed one win thus far since arriving.

It is therefore understandable that one of the club’s more veteran players was involved in a meeting, and the striker praised the discussion, saying: “It’s the right way forward as you have to speak about the good things you do but also in the areas you can improve, which is what we did the next day.

“Everyone came in and we had a long meeting about the game. It was a really good meeting as everyone spoke up and shared their feelings.

“We’ve had a good few sessions now and everyone’s feeling very positive now ahead of the game against West Ham.

“Everyone’s on the same page.”

QPR Boss Fears “Dangerous” Man Utd Forward Line

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has referred to Manchester United’s brand new forward line as dangerous, with the London club tasked with being the first side to face a side boosted by the shock deadline day arrival of Radamel Falcao, as reported by the Daily Express.

It is not just Falcao’s arrival that has served to improve Man Utd’s forward line, however, as the addition of Angel Di Maria earlier in the transfer window represented the capture of the most impressive player of last season’s Champions League final for a British record transfer fee. Di Maria cost £59.7 million to tempt away from Real Madrid.

Man Utd already have Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie available to them, along with the likes of Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj. That combination did not impress last season, however, as Man Utd finished seventh. Van Gaal has improved in an attempt to get the club back into the Champions League, and Redknapp is worried about the side he now faces.

He said: “Well, it certainly sounds dangerous!

“It’s got the makings of a great forward line.

“It’ll be interesting to see how they gel together. Di Maria doesn’t sound too bad either.

“We’ve got to go up there and make sure we work hard. We’ve got to be prepared to give them a game on Sunday.”
