Arsenal To Push Forward In £7m Chase For Chelsea Star – reports

Arsenal are keen to push forward in their pursuit of Chelsea stopper Petr Cech, having seen Wojciech Szczesny collapse and perform poorly during the away game against Southampton.

Having seen Szczesny suffer from a series of mistakes over the course of his career, Arsene Wenger has finally lost faith with him.

Two costly mistakes from the Poland international saw the Gunners collapse 2-0 against one of their top rivals for a Champions League place in the Premier League.

Wenger dropped Sczcesny for the game in the FA Cup today, preferring David Ospina, but he is looking for a first choice replacement.

For that, he will go back to Chelsea and Petr Cech, who has become second choice at Stamford Bridge after the emergence of Belgian international Thibaut Courtois.

The west London club have valued Cech at around £7 million, and Arsenal are willing to match that, according to the Daily Star.

However, there is no guarantee that Chelsea will agree to sell to one of their close rivals.

Cech would be keen, however, according to his agent, who said: “I think Petr would be considering it.”

Liverpool Boss Refuses To Rule Out £7m Chelsea Stopper Move

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out the possibility of a £7 million January move for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The Anfield club have been heavily linked with a possible transfer move for the highly experienced Stamford Bridge stopper, and his agent yesterday encouraged the Reds to make a move for the player.

Simon Mignolet has been in bad form for Rodgers’ side since the start of the season, and has been dropped in favour of Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones as a result.

Jones is not intended to be a permanent solution in net, however, and Liverpool are expected to buy another stopper.

Cech would be an ideal option, with the player having fallen out of favour at Chelsea with the return of Thibaut Courtois in the summer from his extended loan spell.

He has exceptional Premier League experience, and has proven himself at the highest level.

Rodgers refused to rule out a move.

He said: “I won’t comment on any player linked to here.

“My only concentration is working with the group here and if there is a possibility of strengthening in January, we’ll take a look.

“[But only] at the right type of player.”

Liverpool Told To Bid For £7m Chelsea Star

Liverpool have been told to bid for Petr Cech, by the player’s agent, symbolising the extent to which he is interested in a move elsewhere in the coming transfer windows.

However, the agent has also admitted that Chelsea are unlikely to sell Cech in January, and believes that a summer move for the player would be more successful.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Cech in recent months, and their need for a new goalkeeper has become increasingly pressing.

Brendan Rodgers has completely dropped Simon Mignolet from his starting line up in the last three games, favouring Australian reserve Brad Jones.

However, Jones is unlikely to retain the starting jersey in the long term, and as a result, Liverpool are likely to sign another keeper.

Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar has said that Liverpool should look to Cech as a signing in the summer, given their need to strengthen in between the sticks.

He said: “It’s unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title. I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him. I think Petr would be considering it.

“Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer.”

Cech is valued at around £7 million by Chelsea.
