Man Utd Legend Criticises Wenger’s Use Of Arsenal Maestro

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has criticised Arsene Wenger’s usage of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, saying that to use him on the left wing, as Wenger has been doing in recent weeks, is a waste of him as a talent, as reported by the Independent.

He also questioned the sensibility of his midfield selections, and says that it is incredibly clear to everyone that Wenger requires a talented holding midfielder who is specialised in that role, but the manager himself has not dealt with that.

Scholes’s most fierce criticism came against the use of Ozil, who won the World Cup with Germany this summer.

Ozil’s arrival last season was heralded as a changing point for Arsenal, when they could finally compete with the other Premier League big guns financially.

He has failed to impose himself on the league, however, and there has been some criticism. Scholes, however, believes that how Wenger is using him is all wrong.

The former Man Utd man said: “I admired Mesut Ozil as a player at Real Madrid but it is no use playing him wide.

“He is not interested in defending and he needs to be in the centre, among good quality players who get the best out of him.

“He has that languid style which makes it look like he isn’t trying.

“I am sure that isn’t the case but he is struggling to find his form and he is too good a player to waste.”

Man Utd Legend Predicts Shock Liverpool Champions League Result

Manchester United hero Paul Scholes has backed Liverpool to be a surprise package in this season’s Champions League, with the Anfield club set to return to the elite competition for the first time since 2009 in their fixture against Ludogorets tonight, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Their game against the Bulgarian champions comes after a struggle in the Premier League at the weekend, with the Reds having lost 1-0 to Aston Villa in a poor display.

However, Europe offers new hope, and Scholes risks upsetting the Man Utd faithful by suggesting that their fierce rivals have an outside hope of winning another Champions League trophy.

Scholes even praised the job done by Brendan Rodgers, with the Northern Irish manager having led the club to a surprise finish in second last season.

He said: “Liverpool are the dark horse of the competition this year.

“Brendan Rodgers has done a fantastic job. The style of play he’s adopted is exciting to watch and the players seem to have taken to him. I feel they will do well with the players they have.

“The big advantage they have is a home crowd. Anfield is always a hostile place to go, which is something Manchester City lack.”

Liverpool also have to face the current holders of the competition, Real Madrid, if they want to progress from their group. The other side in their set are Swiss team Basel.

Man Utd Legend’s Fears Over 28-Year-Old’s Injury Woes

Former Manchester United star and club legend Paul Scholes has expressed his fears over Radamel Falcao’s injury woes, saying that his problematic knee could wind up being a big issue for the Old Trafford club, as reported by the Daily Star.

Falcao was ruled out of this summer’s World Cup after undergoing surgery on a knee injury that he picked up towards the end of last season.

The Colombian striker had damaged an anterior cruciate ligament playing for Monaco, and an ACL injury is a famously difficult problem to return from.

Scholes said: “You just hope his knee is right, I think that will be the main problem.

“But once he gets going and [Angel] Di Maria can start creating chances for him then I’m sure we will start scoring goals.

“I would like to see Di Maria play wide. Whether [Louis] van Gaal is going to play with wide players, I’m not too sure, but we saw the other night that he was devastating for Argentina against Germany in wide areas. Whether it is the right or left-hand side, his pace is frightening.

“He can go past players and score goals. That is something we have been missing. I am sure he can play in the central areas as well, but if I was picking him then it would be in the wide areas.

“Falcao’s goalscoring record is brilliant from when he has been at Porto and Atletico Madrid. The goals he has scored have been important, then there is the movement he brings and his experience as well at 28 years of age.”

There are even those who say that Falcao failed his medical at the Manchester side before the loan deal was confirmed, but the club themselves are insistent that he managed all of the tests without any issues being raised.

Man Utd could turn to Falcao for their game against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday, having not won a single one of their games thus far this season.
